Every year we try to provide food to some of the many birds holding out the cold winter of Norway. We use birdfeeders for seeds (pictures of which I have in another post), together with seed balls hung from branches. The latter poses a bit of a challenge though: You either have to hang them up using rope, which is fiddly, or with s-hooks, which tend to fall off with the slightest wind.

So I decided to try to make a bit more weather-proof version of the s-hook, specifically for use with seed balls. By making the part of the hook that hangs on the branch much longer and adding an inward lip to prevent it from falling off so easily, and then adjusting the part where I thread the seed ball on in such a way that the thread cant loosen as easily, I think I’ve solved my main pain points.

I’ve tried it for a while now, and it seems to work as intended. Here are the pictures of it. You can find the models on my two model pages (see other post under 3Dprints)
