Driving through the rolling hills of Trøndelag, one might not expect to find a vibrant neon-lit tribute to the American Dream. Yet, Vuddudalen American Pick Up Cafe stands as a testament to a deep-seated love for the 1950s and the golden age of the automobile. What started as a personal passion for vintage trucks and Americana has transformed into a cultural landmark. The air here is thick with nostalgia, the scent of freshly brewed coffee, and the gleaming chrome of classic “pick-ups” that look as though they’ve just rolled off a Detroit assembly line.
Today, the cafe is a bustling social hub for car enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. Inside, every corner is packed with authentic memorabilia—from vintage signs to jukeboxes—creating a sensory bridge between Norwegian rural life and the legendary Highway 61. It is a place where history isn’t found in dusty books, but in the roar of a V8 engine and the timeless charm of a roadside diner.
The following images are from our trip to this place. Enjoy :-).
